Code of Conduct

1. Our commitment

JK-Tuoretalo Oy is a Finnish food manufacturer operating in Tuusula. We develop and produce mayonnaise, sauces, salad dressings and fillings for retail, foodservice customers and the food industry. Our staff consists of 23 people.

We comply with applicable legislation and regulatory requirements and strive to operate responsibly throughout our value chain. These ethical operating principles guide our staff and management and describe the practices we promote together with our partners.

2. Food safety and product quality

Food safety is the foundation of our operations. We operate an FSSC 22000 certified food safety management system and follow documented hygiene, hazard control, traceability and quality procedures. We prevent contamination, manage allergens, ensure that product information is accurate, and maintain appropriate storage and transport conditions. Employees must follow the instructions, complete the required records and report food safety concerns and deviations without delay. Potentially unsafe products may only be released with the decision of an authorised person.

3. Responsible sourcing and raw materials

We assess suppliers and raw materials from the perspective of food safety, quality, delivery reliability and material sustainability risks. We favour domestic and local sourcing where this is commercially and technically feasible without compromising product safety or customer requirements. We use only cage-free eggs in our production, and only certified soy in raw materials that contain soy. We require our suppliers to comply with legislation, respect human rights and provide accurate origin and product information.

4. Environment and resource efficiency

We work to reduce our environmental impact by preventing food waste, using energy and water efficiently, sorting waste and developing our packaging and logistics. Fat separated in our cleaning process is used as biofuel. Our properties use geothermal heating and fossil-free energy, together with solar electricity generated by panels installed on the roof of our factory. We are developing our environmental management system with the goal of obtaining Ekokompassi environmental certification in January 2027. The certification is not presented as achieved before it is granted. We assess our material environmental impacts and continuously look for opportunities to improve.

5. People, wellbeing and fair working conditions

We provide a safe and respectful working environment for permanent employees, seasonal workers, trainees and others working on our premises. We do not accept discrimination, harassment, bullying, forced labour or child labour. We respect labour legislation, working time requirements, freedom of association and legal employee representation. We take care of proper induction, training, protective equipment, occupational health and safety, and open dialogue. Everyone must follow safety instructions and report hazards they observe.

6. Ethical business

We compete fairly and act honestly with customers, suppliers, authorities and competitors. Bribery, corruption, offering or accepting undue benefits, fraud and misleading claims are prohibited. Gifts and hospitality must be reasonable and lawful, and must not influence business decisions. Any conflicts of interest must be disclosed. We respect confidentiality, intellectual property rights and the protection of personal data.

7. Customers, partners and authorities

We aim for long-term cooperation built on trust, open communication and compliance with agreed requirements. We provide accurate product information and handle customer feedback and complaints appropriately. We expect our partners to comply with legislation and to operate responsibly. We cooperate constructively with supervisory authorities, auditors and other stakeholders.

8. Reporting concerns and corrective actions

We encourage employees and partners to report concerns relating to food safety, working conditions, inappropriate conduct or breaches of these principles. Concerns can be raised with your supervisor, the quality and responsibility manager or the managing director. Reports are handled appropriately and, where possible, confidentially. No one who reports a concern in good faith may be subject to retaliation. Identified problems are investigated and the necessary corrective actions are taken.

9. Responsibilities and review

Management is responsible for communicating these principles, allocating the necessary resources and leading by example. Every employee is responsible for complying with the principles relating to their own role. This document is reviewed regularly and updated when legislation, our operations or stakeholder expectations change. More detailed requirements are defined in our policies, work instructions and management systems.
